Food Services
Lighthouse International Ministries (LIM) is a fully licensed 501c3 non-profit ministry. We network with several food outlets including Vons, Trader Joe's Vallarta and Sweetwater Markets. We deliver food and other items to between one hundred to two hundred people every week.

Food Services - how it works
Typically, all packaged food stuff has expiration dates. The expiration date is merely an indication of when, typically, certain items begin to lose freshness and vitality. Naturally, merchants pay strict attention to the expiration date and arrange to donate nearly - expired foods to ministries such as LIM. The nearly- expired foods that we receive is, for the most part, good, wholesome, nutritious food. True, the bread may be day-old-bread, and the banana skins may have little brown spots but be very, very assured that somewhere in the city, a family is feasting on wholesome nutritious food. It's a great arrangement, food outlets have a way to avoid throwing out food by donating it to the hungry. They get a tax write-off and become known as a donor and a company with a heart and children who would be hungry go to bed with their little stomachs full.
Hunger and Thirst
One fine day; while on my way
I saw a child in sheer dismay
His eyes vexed with eternal pains
No flesh was left; just bones and veins
A sketch of sorrow on his face
As his relatives; none to embrace
A homeless orphan with nothing to eat
His hunger not for bread or meat
But a crave for some crumbs to munch
Having no wish of a delicious brunch
And a desire for coke, no burger or jelly
But required some stuff to fill his belly
He was thirsty…. showed his lips
His jaws were just like broken ships
I knew that day ‘the pain of hunger’
I knew that day ‘the agony of thirst’
Since then I am thirsty and hungry
My Soul has become null and empty
Hunger and thirst abide my Soul
That water or bread can never condole

I welcome the night
I welcome the night
It's softness caresses me,
Sleep brings me peace,
I can only find there.
Only too soon comes
the harshness of daylight
I dream of sweet moments,
I welcome the night
